In our recent weekly church website blogs, we have been promoting and explaining those missions and ministry groups that we support in our yearly financial budget, as well as with prayer. We have already looked in these blogs at Cornerstone Counselling, Restored Ministries, the Mustard Seed, Adeara Recovery Centre, the Pregnancy Care Centre, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (at U of A), and Gull Lake Camp (a camp run by our denomination, the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada). This week, we will look at our denomination and its ministries.
The Canadian Baptists of Western Canada work in partnership for ministry in Canada with several “sister denominations”: the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec, L’Union d’Eglises Baptistes Francaises au Canada (the French Baptists of Canada), the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada, and Canadian Baptist Ministries. As well, the CBWC is connected to the Baptist World Alliance, the North American Baptist Fellowship, the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, and the Canadian Council of Churches.
The CBWC website says the following: We serve in the three regions of British Columbia and Yukon, Alberta and the Northwest Territories, and the Heartland (Saskatchewan and Manitoba). Together, the churches and ministries in these regions make up the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada…Canadian Baptists of Western Canada reaches people for Christ by seeking the health and extending the ministry of the local church. The CBWC prayerfully supports local churches and their communities by training leaders, supporting innovative ministries, responding compassionately to social needs, responding to crises and providing churches with administrative and financial services. In partnership with our local churches, CBWC also plays a collaborative role in seeing new expressions of church for today.
The Canadian Baptists of Western Canada together affirm wholeheartedly the revelation of God as given in the scriptures of the Old and New Testament.

Our Southgate Baptist Church family has had a long association with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada through financing and prayer, be sending delegates to different denominational events, hosting local ministerial events, and sending our youth and teenagers to Gull Lake Camp. We are pleased to be able to continue to support this denominational ministry. May the Lord bless them richly.
